Startup and operation of anaerobic EGSB reactor treating palm oil mill effluent.

摘要: Abstract A bench-scale expanded granular sludge bed (EGSB) reactor was applied to the treatment of palm oil mill effluent (POME). The had been operated continuously at 35°C for 514 d, with organic loading rate (OLR) increased from 1.45 17.5 kg COD/(m3-d). results showed that EGSB good performance in terms COD removal on one hand, high 91% obtained two days' hydraulic retention time (HRT), and highest OLR On other only 46% raw POME transformed into biogas which methane content about 70% (V/V). 30-d intermittent experiment indicated maximum transformation potential matter 56%. Volatile fatty acid (VFA) accumulation observed later operation stage, this settled by supplementing trace metal elements. whole, system exhibited stability acidity alkalinity. Finally, operational problems inherent laboratory scale corresponding countermeasures were also discussed.
