摘要: A semi-defined medium for the cultivation of bloodstream forms African trypanosome brucei subgroup was developed. Out 14 different strains tested, 10 could be cultured including Trypanosoma brucei, T. equiperdum, evansi, rhodesiense and gambiense. The presence a reducing agent (2-mercaptoethanol or thioglycerol) found to essential growth. standard consisted Hepes buffered minimum with Earle's salts supplemented 0.2 mM 2-mercaptoethanol, 2 pyruvate 10% inactivated serum either from rabbit (T. evansi rhodesiense) human gambiense). Although general defined long-term maintenance cultures, initiation culture nevertheless required particular conditions strains. trypanosomes had all characteristics in vivo including: morphology, infectivity, antigenic variation glucose metabolism.
