摘要: By rearranging the terms of pulmonary shunt equation physiological factors affecting alveolar-arterial oxygen tension difference can be examined. The effect inspired fraction and haemoglobin concentration are illustrated. It is demonstrated that there an important cardiac output dependent term which has considerable effect. Therefore cannot used as a reliable measure function. This illustrated with data from two case histories.
