摘要: Examined are statistical aspects of the 715 tropical cyclones that formed in North Atlantic basin during interval 1945-2010. These include 306 storms attained only storm strength, 409 hurricanes, 179 major or intense and 108 struck US coastline as hurricanes. Comparisons made using 10-year moving average (10-yma) values between cyclone parametric surface air ENSO-related indicate strong correlations to exist, particular, against Armagh Observatory (Northern Ireland) temperature, Multi-decadal Oscillation (AMO) index, Meridional Mode (AMM) (NAO) addition Oceanic Ni o index (ONI) Quasi-Biennial (QBO) indices. Also examined decadal variations a look ahead towards 2012 hurricane season beyond.
