摘要: Abstract Background: The co-occurrence of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and psychoactive substance use (PSUD) in adults has been the focus much clinical scientific inquiry. In this study we examine effects ADHD on transitions from abuse to dependence between different classes agents abuse. Methods: An sample 239 consecutively referred both genders with a diagnosis childhood-onset persistent DSM-III-R confirmed by structured interview were compared 268 non-ADHD healthy adults. Results: was associated twofold increased risk for PSUD. subjects significantly more likely than comparisons make transition an alcohol drug (hazard ratio = 3.8) continue substances following period 4.9). Conclusions: is sequence PSUD which early increases subsequent disorder, If such developmental pathways might lead preventive intervention strategies aimed at reducing subjects.
