摘要: In response to the alarming decline of wild Irish Atlantic salmonstocks (Salmosalar) and an EU-led ban on drift-netting, a recent moratorium commercial driftnet fishery for salmon in Ireland was introduced. Recognising lack investigation impacts fisheries conservation policy from user-perspective within EU management, prior or after implementation, this chapter considers how wellbeing traditional drift-net fishers drifters their community is affected by loss fishery. The study set cross-border area Lough Foyle between Northern Republic Ireland. A social approach provides analytical framework assessing unintended consequences pro-conservation instrument human ecosystem health, such as out-migration youth ‘human freight’ abandoned ‘ghost’ boats. Using empirical evidence explores micro-scale drivers that can affect macro-scale implementation greater depth. concludes with vision future resource-user perspective, highlighting areas common ground may help foster sustainable way forward.
