摘要: Chromosomes bearing small deletions are valuable tools in Drosophila genetics. We have investigated a method for efficiently constructing precise chromosomal deficiencies. Two P transposable elements were positioned within progenitor strain at the sites of desired deletion endpoints. Deletions spanning two transposons recovered high frequency when element transposase was expressed these flies, but only if flanking cis rather than trans configuration. Appropriate strains can now be constructed to delete virtually any region by utilizing an extensive collection lines containing single insertions throughout genome.
