摘要: Domestic dogs can play a variety of important roles for farmers. However, when in proximity to conservation areas, the presence rural free-ranging be problematic due potential predation of, competition with, or transmission infectious disease local threatened fauna. We used frequent location radio tracking technology study dog movements and habitat use into sensitive habitats. To achieve better understanding foray behaviors we monitored (n = 14) households located an isolated area between Valdivian Coastal Reserve Alerce Costero National Park southern Chile. Dogs were mostly near (<200 m) but exhibited diurnal pattern directed excursions (forays) away from their home locations. spent, on average, 5.3% time forays with average per distances house ranging 0.5–1.9 km (maximum distance detected 4.3 km). Foraying behavior was positively associated pasture compared forest including protected lands. rarely and, entered, trails and/or roads selected movement. Our provides information about how interact fine-scale wildlife habitat, particular, lands, providing insight might drive interactions, turn, manage these interactions.
