摘要: Abstract The spatial behaviour of 10 Southern river otters Lontra provocax was analysed using radio-tracking data collected in the Queule River, Chile. estimated otter density 0.25 individuals km−1. Females with cubs and adult displaying mating behaviours were only social group recorded. Studied solitary observed patterns suggest an intrasexual territoriality. No home range overlap among males existed while average 33% 87% overlapped females between sexes, respectively. In situation core areas, one case overlapping male female observed. Average area lengths 11.3 km 0.9 km, Otters used rivers more frequently than expected, whereas they avoided small streams. Low intensity livestock farming, without canalization watercourses riparian vegetation extraction practices, seems compatible presence populations since studied not affected under these circumstances. Based on present official reserve sizes distribution within country, also increase variant anthropogenic land uses outside areas that result consequent habitat loss deterioration, we strongly recommend considering importance dimension quantity quality habitats further conservation planning for integrated catchment management.
