摘要: We examined patterns of habitat occupancy and intensity use by Asian small-clawed otters (Aonyx cinerea) sampling 59 hill stream segments in the Western Ghats between February April 2008, using spraints (otter feces) as an indicator. used occupancy-based approach to determine influence covariates on detection occupancy. also generalized linear models model encounter rate a function covariates. Although streams was high before summer showers, it declined drastically after rains. Sampling time, therefore, indicated otter movement across area. Altitude next-best predictor Intensity influenced most altitude followed type, with pools preferred over cascades riffles. Second- 3rd-order were more intensively than 1st-order streams. The study identifies high-altitude areas important prospective habitats demonstrates applicability surveys identify determinants occurrence otters.
