摘要: SUMMARY (1) More species of water-striders colonized lakes each year than were reproductively successful. Reproductive success common could be predicted from proportion various habitats present, but rare was not predictable any linear combination five variables thought to influence gerrid population dynamics. Habitat diversity and correlated. (2) A dominant species, Gerris pingreensis, able exclude other bulrush which the most stable favourable for growth all species. The niche G. pingreensis included within that buenoi comatus; populations latter two showed best reproductive in non-bulrush with emergent floating vegetation, respectively, occupied absence pingreensis. (3) Apparently few equilibrium may account persistence central British Columbia. Under such conditions, strength habitat preference seems vary inversely vagility considered.
