摘要: Local oscillators have been produced for band 6 of the Heterodyne Instrument Far Infrared (HIFI) on Herschel Space Observatory and Harvard-Smithsonian Center Astrophysics Receiver Lab Telescope (RLT) in northern Chile. These local pump hot-electron bolometer (HEB) mixer front-ends to perform high resolution spectroscopy interstellar medium. oscillator assemblies amplify 1 mW input signals 86 107 GHz before multiplying frequency by 16 or 18 with cascaded chains Schottky diode doublers triplers, ultimately covering nearly entire 1.4 1.9 THz 3 μW more at nominal operating temperature 120 K. Peak output power is typically 30 higher. Room performance sufficient HEB mixers moderately reduced bandwidth compared cryogenic operation, room 10 range. The chain outputs are Gaussian beams diagonal horns integrated into final stage multiplier blocks. Beam pattern measurements 1.8 confirm predicted horns.
