摘要: Rigid-rod shaped materials are of interest due to their propensity form liquid crystalline phases. In addition, if these molecules allow electronic communication along backbone, they can also exhibit linear optical properties such as luminescence well second- and/or third-order nonlinear properties. We have employed a palladium and copper catalyzed cross-coupling methodology prepare wide variety defined characterized rigid-rod composed alternating aryl alkynyl moieties. Using this chemistry, we were able alter the not only by altering aromatic groups, but incorporation selected π-donor or π-acceptor substituents end groups. This allowed synthesis both symmetric (D/D A/A) unsymmetric (D/A) molecules. The latter particular in terms second-order prepared related with ethynyl groups which subsequently series platinum acetylide polymers. synthetic strategies discussed, preliminary studies some chromophores, phase behavior rods.
