摘要: We examined Utahns' attitudes (n=901) toward use of recreational hunting to manage black bears (Ursus americanus) and cougars (Puma concolor), hounds hunt these species, the practice bear baiting. Independent variables included urban versus rural residence, gender, educational attainment, age, duration in-state stakeholder group classification. Most Utahns disapproved cougar management practices examined. Differences in responses were associated with sociodemographic characteristics participation wildlife-related recreation. The following groups less opposed selected than their counterparts: residents, men, those lower levels education, longtime younger respondents, hunters. Survey analyses can help wildlife managers identify areas controversy where public involvement efforts might be prescribed.
