摘要: BACKGROUND/AIMS The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the protective effect of hydroalcoholic extract Urtica dioica leaves on quantitative morphometric changes in liver streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. METHODS Thirty male Wistar rats were divided into control (G1), (G2), + (G3) groups. group received only sham injections intraperitoneal saline; saline for 5 days followed by streptozotocin (80 mg/kg) 6th day; and 100 mg/kg (7) injection day. After five weeks, animals sacrificed whole livers removed. Liver specimens used analysis after hematoxylin eosin staining. All data statistically analyzed one-way ANOVA expressed as mean with standard error means. RESULTS In G3 (diabetic diocia) group, surface area hepatocytes periportal zone (Z1) greater than G2 (diabetic) G1 (control) groups, but this difference not significant. No alteration observed perivenous (Z3) compared (G2) group. nuclear higher Z1 lower Z3 that diameter hepatocyte nuclei (G1) groups both Z3. CONCLUSIONS This study revealed administration before induction has a alterations zones lobule
