摘要: Because 95.5% of breeding eastern bluebirds on study sites in South Carolina were apparently monogamous, I examined hypotheses for the evolution monogamy. In an effort to assess effects male parental care female reproductive success, males removed from territories after clutch completion. Experimentally deserted females and control, paired matched by age, brood number, habitat type, area. No significant differences found any measures success compared. The hypothesis that is necessary partial was rejected. This result challenges notion always positively affects fitness.
