Wheelchair Netball: Motives and Attitudes of Competitors With and Without Disabilities

摘要: The present study surveyed 57 (36 disabled and 21 nondisabled) participants in wheelchair netball. reasons given most often for becoming involved netball were “enjoyment” “to meet people and/or socialise”. Common responses to the question about psychological benefits included “develop self-confidence”, “regain self-esteem”, “social benefits”. data indicated that opportunity achieve maintain fitness was a major reason individuals with disabilities play Only 3 (8.3%) of subjects nominated “winning” as motivation Despite this apparent lack competitiveness, 7 (12.1%) sample responded they would like assistance from sport psychologist. These findings supported previous recommendations involvement psychologists sports disabilities.
