摘要: Purpose of review A strong association between diabetes mellitus and carcinogenesis has been reported in different organs. The purpose this is to summarize the new evidences relation its with development, prognosis, therapeutic strategies head neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC). Recent findings publications suggest that glycemic metabolism altered HNSCC. Elevated blood glucose levels, before or around time diagnosis, have reduce survival rates Also, homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance independently associated disease-free survival, suggesting improving control may improve prognosis group patients.Epidemiological studies revealed cancer patients less cancer-related mortality after antiglycemic treatment, opening option include antiglycolytic agents, such as metformin, plan. This finding accordance in-vitro demonstrated a decrease tumor-cell proliferation antidiabetic medications. Summary highlight importance pathogenesis progression cells. knowledge these pathways gives us an opportunity design target treatments aimed modulate catabolism.
