摘要: Cellular networks have witnessed tremendous traffic growth recently, fueled by smartphones, tablets and new high speed broadband cellular access technologies. A key application driving that is video streaming. Yet very little known about the characteristics of this class. In paper, we examine generated three million users across one world's largest 3G networks. This first deep dive into streaming shows HLS, an adaptive bitrate protocol, accounts for third it common to see changes in encoding bitrates within a session. We also observe most content streamed at less than 255 Kbps only 40% videos are fully downloaded. Another finding there exists significant potential caching deliver content.
