摘要: OBJECTIVES One of the striking features splenic imaging is variable heterogeneous gyriform arterial enhancement on dynamic computed tomography (CT). We speculated that these patterns may reflect changes in micro-circulation related to portal venous pressure. PATIENTS AND METHODS To test this hypothesis, we evaluated phase CT scans performed before and after liver transplantation (n=91), as most effective way alleviating hypertension. developed novel grading systems assess heterogeneity. Two control groups were used: patients with cirrhosis undergoing transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) (n=28) transplant waiting list who had repeated (n=28). RESULTS Splenic heterogeneity increased 55% compared 14% TACE 4% (P<0.0001). Mean Hounsfield units areas 71.7±2 90.1±2.5 (P<0.01). In contrast, there no significant following (86.3±4.2 vs. 83.5±4.5; P=NS) or (80.9±4.6 73.8±3.7; P=NS). CONCLUSION have shown significantly increase but not patients. suggest are due reduction pressure likely micro-circulation. These be important pathophysiology hypersplenism.
