摘要: ABSTRACT Introduction Urological Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (UCPPS) in men is a common complaint, and causes significant impairment quality of life. Until recently, the focus research has primarily been on pain symptoms or underlying prostate pathology. However, new clinical phenotyping demonstrates pelvic tenderness to be an important component UCPPS. Unfortunately, mechanisms remain understood, itself not well quantified. Aim To validate use pressure thresholds as method measuring UCPPS demonstrate that extends beyond pelvis. Methods Fifty‐five diagnosed with 46 healthy controls were recruited through referrals advertisements. Each participant filled out questionnaires was assessed by structured interview. In addition, all underwent urological assessment. Main Outcome Measures Demographic information collected National Institutes Health‐Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index. Using digital algometer, 10 genito‐pelvic one control site (deltoid) measured. The four‐glass test used for men. Results had reliably lower compared locations, including deltoid. also demonstrated consistently overall regardless location. Furthermore, able correctly distinguish patients from 77% time. Prostate infection did influence thresholds. Conclusions Lower nonpelvic suggest involvement central mechanism Overall, data confirm move away prostate‐based view This supported failure find threshold differences related infection.
