摘要: The efficacy of nasal oxygen during sleep was evaluated in patients with COPD, episodic rapid eye movement desaturation, and a daytime PaO2 greater than 60 mm Hg. double-blind, randomized 3-yr trial used versus room air two groups nocturnal desaturating subjects. setting the outpatient chest clinic Veterans Affairs Medical Center. There were 51 moderate to severe or equal Hg: 38 proven REM desaturation 13 without desaturation. Nocturnal at 3 L/min delivered by concentrator 19 subjects, defective remaining no gas therapy for nondesaturating desaturator group who received supplemental over 36 months showed significant downward trend pulmonary artery pressure (-3.7 Hg) compared treated (+3.9 Hg). Nonvascular parameters hypoxia, such as hemoglobin red blood cell mass, did not differ between sham- oxygen-treated groups. Mortality decidedly higher non-desaturating but there difference oxygen- sham-treated We conclude that reverse COPD whose is above Hg has beneficial effect reducing pressure.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
