摘要: The potentially beneficial blood pressure (BP)-lowering effects of marine omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega-3-PUFAs) remain controversial. objective this qualitative and quantitative (meta-analysis) analysis was to evaluate the results all available randomized controlled trials that studied effect omega-3-PUFAs on BP response. A comprehensive search English literature from 1970 1988 disclosed only six investigations out 22 published reports. Four these were evaluable therefore eligible for analysis. Of these, one evaluated hypertensive subjects. In two trials, there statistically significant reductions in BP; reporting an investigation subjects showed greatest reduction. Using established methodologic criteria, quality each report by independent observers. Following appraisal, outcomes reanalyzed pooled using a meta-analysis. There no difference between omega-3-PUFA groups control groups, possibly because failure include but trial. Despite positive studies, little scientifically valid evidence is demonstrate BP-lowering omega-3-PUFAs. Areas needing more attention future research are identified methods improve study designs suggested.
