摘要: Therapeutic iron compounds have limited absorption and often side-effects, which limits patient compliance. Iron trimaltol is a novel, stable complex, formed between ferric (Fe3+) maltol (3-hydroxy-2-methyl-4-pyrone), effective in the treatment of deficiency anaemia with few side-effects. However, kinetics from reliability normal colorimetric analysis detecting absorbed this complex not been established. We measured increases serum levels 12 volunteers following oral challenge four different pharmaceutical formulations double-blind, cross-over, randomized study. The conventional method for was compared thermal analyses after trichloroacetic acid (TCA) serum. Measurements by TCA closely agreed measurements colorimetry. For all formulations, peaked at 90 min plateau least 5 h [mean (standard deviation) peak 8.3% (6.3%) ingested dose, n=48]. Absorption iron, based on values or area under curve, (n=12 each) correlated individual's status, as assessed ferritin (r = -0.6; P < 0.001). Normal colorimetry suitable ingestion trimaltol. There rapid sustained and, ferrous uptake appears to be controlled through mechanisms acquisition that depend upon body stores.
