摘要: Abstract Background: Argon plasma coagulation has been rapidly accepted for endoscopic obliteration of vascular lesions and superficial tumors. Depth injury is thought to be limited through preferential discharge energy nondesiccated tissue. However, argon coagulation-induced not well characterized. The aim this study was characterize colonic by using a porcine model. Methods: Laparotomy performed in 6 female swine the colon exteriorized with subjects under general anesthesia. Lesions were made an probe held perpendicular 2 mm from mucosa. Variables studied as follows: power (45 W, 60 75 W) duration (1, 2, or 3 seconds; n=11 each power/duration combination). Injury graded either deep, involving muscularis propria. Results: Circular muscle layer correlated closely ( p = 0.02), 0.001), total delivered r 0.977). Longitudinal damage associated burn 0.001) 0.855), but poorly 0.40). No perforations occurred. Submucosal injection saline solution had protective effect reductions circular (90% 10%, 0.002) longitudinal (50% 0%, 0.1). Conclusions: propria occurs at recommended settings coagulation. correlates setting, burn, delivery. Protective arcing tissue does appear significant vivo. protects against deep injury.
