摘要: This paper summarizes some recent advances in the understanding of nitrate assimilation model legume Lotus japonicus. First, different types experimental evidence are presented that emphasize importance root nitrate-reducing assimilatory processes this plant. Secondly, main results from an ethyl methanesulphonate mutagenesis programme presented. In programme, chlorate-resistant and photorespiratory mutants were produced characterized. The phenotype one particular mutant suggested a low-affinity transport system for growth L. japonicus plants under nutrition. mutants, affected all forms plastid glutamine synthetase leaves, roots, nodules, indicated was not required primary nor symbiotic associations plant (nodulation, mycorrhization), provided photorespiration suppressed. However, these confirmed reassimilation ammonium released by photorespiration. Finally, aspects relationship between osmotic stress also discussed, with specific reference to biosynthesis proline as osmolyte.
