摘要: Metabolism of androgens includes glucuronidation, the major pathway steroid elimination in several target tissues. Glucuronidation is catalysed by UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs). UGT2B17 has been shown to be particularly active against and highly abundant prostate. Recently, we discovered that deletion gene associated with low or undetectable urinary testosterone levels. Here, determined phenotypic outcome quantifying mRNA expression normal prostate tissues individuals different genotypes. Additionally, frequency polymorphism was studied a Swedish population-based case–control study including 176 patients diagnosed cancer 161 controls. We found homozygous for insertion allele expressed 30 times more tissue than heterozygotes. Carriers had significantly increased risk (OR=2.07; 95% CI=1.32–3.25). In conclusion, these results show risk.
