Rheological and mechanical characterization of poly(lactic acid)/polypropylene polymer blends

摘要: Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) was melt blended with polypropylene (PP) the aim of replacing commodity polymers in future applications. Since cost PLA is quite high, it not economically feasible to use alone for day as a packaging material without blending. This paper reports preparation poly(lactic acid)/polypropylene polymer blends (PLA/PP) using laboratory scale single screw extruder. Rheological and mechanical properties prepared were determined. The rheological experiments carried out on capillary rheometer, effect shear rate, temperature content flow activation energy true viscosity described. Mechanical investigated dog bone-shaped samples obtained by injection molding; tensile tests performed Testometric M350-10KN. Young’s modulus, strain at break stress results showed that between pure polymers, whereas less than polymers. incompatibility PP blend.
