摘要: Lippia javanica is widely distributed throughout South Africa where it used extensively in traditional herbal preparations. An infusion of the leaves commonly as a decongestant for colds and coughs. A preliminary study indicated that essential oil chemistry varies dramatically both within between natural plant populations. As antimicrobial activity may be directly related to specific composition oil, also fluctuate. The aerial parts were collected from various localities southern thereof. hydrodistilled oils analysed by GC/MS cluster analysis was performed on dataset. From 16 samples (representing five populations), 5 chemotypes identified; myrcenone rich-type (36-62%), carvone (61-73%), piperitenone (32-48%), an ipsenone (42-61%) linalool (>65%). have been mentioned literature but carvone, not previously reported javanica. Time kill studies three microbial respiratory isolates document scientific rationale using treat complaints medicine. Klebsiella pneumoniae, Cryptococcus neoformans Bacillus cereus showed reduction populations with strongest bacteriostatic effect observed pneumoniae.
