摘要: Background The American College of Surgeons and Association Program Directors in Surgery Phase 1 curriculum involves basic surgical skills instructional modules Verification Proficiency. This article is a study revision beta versions the Proficiency instruments. Methods Postgraduate year residents were tested on 11 after undergoing lab instruction practice. Deidentified videotaped performances scored data analyzed to identify correlations between individual checklist items failure. Results In all, 23 underwent over 2 years; 8 (35%) passed all examinations at first attempt, 15 (65%) failed least module, (48%) modules. Residents who demonstrate proficiency mandatory remediation retested until their scores considered proficient. Scrutiny results revealed that predictive independently overall pass rate was significantly greater 2009 compared with 2008 introduction rater training consequences for Conclusion provides framework evaluate learner progress toward proficiency. That we achieved 100% faculty compliance more than 250 speaks feasibility approach should facilitate widespread acceptance as step closer developing final examination postgraduate residents.
