摘要: Compact tension (CT) specimen is used to investigate the behavior of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) preheat-treated tungsten inert gas (TIG) welded aluminum alloy (AA2219-T87) on MTS-810. Filler metal for weld AA2319. ASTM E399 standard provides a method convert mouth opening displacement (CMOD) data length in CT specimens. Calibration tests are performed obtain plots CMOD versus load and ratio (a/W) different lengths base metal. Cracks obtained optically calculated from as per E399. Numerical simulation relate with Validity verified results obtained. Paris curves plotted compared both study effects welding FCGR. It shown that calculation through measurements not reliable case materials. High amount closure exists material, which induces large errors length. The microstructure evolves result TIG welding. center nugget zone consists dendritic structure followed by recrystallized equiaxed small-sized grains heat-affected zone. Grains have elongated Due varying phase conditions concentration strengthening particles, high contrast under optical microscope clearly observed zones weldment.
