摘要: Background Publication bias toward studies that favor new therapies has been known to occur for the past 40 years, yet its implications are not well studied in child health. The increased interest meta-analyses highlighted need identify totality of evidence when addressing treatment questions. Objectives To measure percentage randomized controlled trials (RCTs) presented at a major pediatric scientific meeting were subsequently published as full-length articles, investigate factors associated with publication, and describe variables change from abstract manuscript form. Design proceedings Society Pediatric Research hand searched RCTs (1992-1995). Subsequent publication was ascertained through search various electronic databases. Quality abstracts manuscripts measured, data extracted using structured Results A total 264 (59.1%) 447 published. Almost 64% favored therapy compared 43.5% never ( P = .02). significantly lower vs Conclusions is serious threat assessing effectiveness interventions health, little more than half There institute an international registry children so can be accessed effectiveness.
