Improved design rules for fixed ended cold-formed steel columns subject to flexural-torsional buckling

摘要: Abstract This paper has presented the details of an investigation into flexural and flexural–fl buckling behaviour cold-formed structural steel columns with pinned fixed ends. Current design rules for member capacities are based on same non-dimensional strength curve both pinned-ended columns. research reviewed accuracy current in AS/NZS 4600 North American Specification determining using results from detailed finite element analyses experimental study lipped channel It was found that Australian accurately predicted pin ended undergoing torsional buckling. However, warping fixity flexural–torsional buckling, it significantly underestimated column as they disregard beneficial effect fixity. therefore proposed improved verified their analysis test made three cross-sections five different grades thicknesses.
