摘要: PURPOSE To investigate the prevalence and associated risk factors of low vision blindness in Korean population. METHODS This cross-sectional, population-based study examined ophthalmologic data 22,135 Koreans aged ≥5 years from fifth Korea National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES V, 2010-2012). According to World Organization criteria, was defined as visual acuity (VA) less than 20/400 better-seeing eye, VA 20/60 or worse but better eye. The rates were calculated either presenting (PVA) best-corrected (BCVA). Multivariate regression analysis conducted for adults ≥20 years. RESULTS overall PVA-defined 4.98% 0.26%, respectively, those BCVA-defined 0.46% 0.05%, respectively. Prevalence increased rapidly above age 70 For subjects ≥70 years, population-weighted vision, based on PVA BCVA, 12.85% 3.87%, corresponding 0.49% 0.42%, problems significantly with (younger elderly subjects), female sex, educational level, lowest household income, whereas ≥ a rural residence. CONCLUSIONS provides useful information planning optimal public eye health care services South Korea.
