摘要: Abstract Objectives: The acute and chronic complications of permanent prostate brachytherapy are discussed. Materials Methods: Review literature for the associated with iodine-125 ( 125 I) palladium-103 103 Pd) brachytherapy. Acute included urinary retention, changes in International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) need TURP. Chronic morbidity symptoms, incontinence, radiation proctitis erectile dysfunction. Results: Urinary retention occurred 1.5–22% patients postimplant. symptoms increased by over 100% 1 month after procedure. By 12 months, were either back to baseline or slightly elevated 90% patients. Significant obstructive persistent necessitating TURP 0–8.7%. incontinence was found 0–19% treated implant without TURP, 0–85% those who had a prior 0–17% subsequent implant. Potency rates ranged from 34% 86% 1–6 years Radiation 0.5–21.4%, significant injury (fistula) occurring 1–2.4%. Conclusions: data this report suggests that can be accomplished minimal short- long-term morbidity. Attention detail as well an appreciation causative factors will help reduce treatment-related side effects.
