摘要: Abstract In this paper, we investigate the effects of Re additions on microstructure and mechanical properties a ternary alloy with composition Mo-12.5Si-8.5B (at.%). This has three-phase consisting Mo solid-solution (MoSS), Mo3Si, Mo5SiB2 our results show that up to 8.4 at.% can be added it without changing its or forming any brittle σ phase at 1600 °C. Three-point bend tests using chevron-notched specimens showed did not improve fracture toughness alloy. Nanoindentation performed MoSS in increases Young’s modulus, but does lower hardness as some solid solution alloys. Based thermodynamic calculations microstructural analyses, lack softening effect is attributed increased Si levels Re-containing since known increase hardness. possibly why there no Re-induced improvement toughness.
