摘要: A highly reproducible method for determining the alcoholic contents of wine is reported. It shown that results dichromate are on average 0.24% alcohol higher than densimetric measurements 200 ml distillates. Dichromate reaction and pycnometer give identical alcohol-water mixtures. Micro-steam distillates as used in method, employed determinations, by reaction. Fresh 200-ml found to contain small amounts a volatile component other ethanol. Through compensation errors, this brings about fortuitous agreement between alcohols fresh After aeration distillates, usual dichromatepycnometer differences appear. Volatile acid sulfur dioxide depress hydrometer an 0.11% but leave essentially unaffected. Forty % remaining difference 0.13% be caused substance which depresses leaves thus demonstrated two-thirds observed or due influences cause error do not appreciably affect results. This establishes reflects true content wines more closely standard procedures.
