摘要: The positive deviance approach identifies and promotes existing uncommon healthy behaviours. A deviance-informed antenatal project was pilot-tested in Al-Minia Governorate, Upper Egypt, during 2003–2004, after a study 2000 found that successful pregnancies had increased consumption of meat vegetables, daytime rest, care; less second-hand smoke exposure; symptoms no urinary tract infection. Accordingly, health facilities were upgraded target comparison areas to provide quality care, including treatment Additionally, the villages, women at-risk delivering low-birth-weight infants enrolled weekly ‘IMPRESS’ (improved pregnancy through education supplementation) sessions with counselling supplemental food. In total, 519 (344 target, 175 comparison) third or fourth month followed delivery. Birth-weights mothers 2.2 times more than birth-weights over baseline (mean increase: 0.58 vs 0.26 g respectively, p<0.01). Similarly, decrease prevalence low birth-weight from greater villages (% decrease: 26.9 11.9 far likely their counterparts report eating food (54.9% 10.6%), (57.1% 4.2%), vegetables (66.9% 5.3%), increasing rest (64.1% 11.7%), avoiding (91.3% 51.6%) pregnancy. cost per 100 improvement US$ 3.98. Government Egypt partners are scaling up elements project.
