Dental status of patients with mental disorders in a Nigerian teaching hospital: a preliminary survey.

摘要: Although individuals with mental disorders are reported to experience dental problems similar the general population, evidence suggests they actually have higher risks of disease and increased oral health needs. This study describes status 105 psychiatric outpatients in a Nigerian hospital. Information was obtained from subject interviews, medical records, an examination determine their caries periodontal status. The hygiene participants poor; mean index score 2.7 ± 1.20. The decayed, missing, filled teeth ranged 0 9 2.3 2.28. Only five subjects (4.9%) had restorations number .14 .67. subjects’ age significantly related (p= .005), gingival .006), occurrence .047). patients Nigeria is poor, indicating need provide education increase access care for these patients.
