摘要: Background and purpose: Venenum Bufonis is a Chinese traditional medicine produced from the glandular secretions of toads that contain biogenic amines, which have anti-inflammatory properties. The present study aimed to examine effect Bufo viridis (BVS) on anxiety depression-like behavior hippocampal senile plaques volume in an animal model Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Experimental approach: Thirty-eight male Wistar rats were used. AD was induced by amyloid-beta (Aβ 1-42 )(10 µg/2 µL, intracerebroventricular injection, icv) then BVS at 20, 40, 80 mg/kg injected intraperitoneally (ip) six equal intervals over 21 days. Anxiety assessed using behavioral tests including open field test (OFT), elevated plus maze (EPM), forced swimming (FST) days after surgery. based Cavalieri principle. Findings/Results: Results OFT showed central crossing number time group significantly decreased compared sham ( P ˂ 0.01 0.001, respectively). Also, values these two parameters increased + BVS80 than 0.05 spent closed arm EPM dramatically 0.05) 0.05). FST indicated immobility had reduction BVS20 0.01), BVS40, groups < 0.001). hippocampus treatment comparison with 0.001 for all). Conclusion implications: revealed injection could improve symptoms depression decrease AD.
