摘要: Genome projects involving Leishmania and other trypanosomatids have revealed that most genes in these organisms are organized into large clusters of on the same DNA strand. We previously shown transcription entire major Friedlin (LmjF) chromosome 1 (chr1) initiates bidirectionally between two divergent gene clusters. Here, we analyze LmjF chr3, which contains convergent 67 30 genes, separated by a tRNA gene, with single protein-coding located close to “left” telomere. Nuclear run-on analyses indicate specific chr3 subtelomeric adjacent 67-gene cluster, “right” telomere upstream 30-gene gene. Transcription both strands terminates within tRNA-gene region. Transient-transfection studies support role region as terminator for RNA polymerase II (Pol II) Pol III, also I.
