摘要: Acute psychological stress challenges the cardiovascular system with an increase in BP (blood pressure), HR (heart rate) and reduced BRS (baroreflex sensitivity). β-adrenergic blockade enhances during rest, but its effect on acute is unknown. This study tested hypothesis that higher healthy subjects under blockade. Twenty novice male bungee jumpers were randomized studied (PROP, n=10) or without (CTRL, propranolol. responses [cross-correlation time-domain (BRSTD) cross-spectral frequency-domain (BRSFD) analysis] evaluated from 30 min prior up to 2 h after jump. HR, cardiac output pulse pressure lower PROP group throughout study. Prior jump, was compared CTRL [BRSTD: 28 (24-42) 17 (16-28) ms·mmHg-1, P<0.05; BRSFD: 27 (20-34) 14 (9-19) values are medians (interquartile range)]. declined jump both groups, post-jump did not differ between groups. In conclusion, stress, treated non-selective significantly comparable BP.
