摘要: Objectives To explore the neuropsychological correlates of capacity to consent research and appoint a proxy among persons with Alzheimer disease. Design, Setting, Participants Interview study 77 disease recruited through an center memory disorder clinic. Measurements The two scenarios (a drug randomized clinical trial neurosurgical trial) were determined by five experienced consultation psychiatrists who rendered categorical judgments based on videotaped interviews MacArthur Competence Assessment Tool–Clinical Research Capacity Appoint Proxy Assessment. Mattis Dementia Rating Scale–Second Edition was used assess functioning. Results drug trial, as majority or greater opinion five-psychiatrist panel, predicted Conceptualization Initiation/Perseveration subscales, whereas Memory subscale. Furthermore, more lenient individual psychiatrists' subscale, stricter Conclusions How view patients for consenting appointing may be related patients' conceptualization More explicit standardized guidance role short-term in determinations useful.
