摘要: We examined the effect of dietary iron concentration on incidence hepatic hemosiderosis in common marmosets (Callithrix jacchus) and assessed impact animal health. Thirteen young adult were fed nutritionally balanced natural-ingredient diets formulated to contain either 100 or 500 ppm iron. Six low-iron seven received high-iron diet. Baseline blood values liver content determined for each animal. Animals weighted monthly, work (hematologic analysis, serum concentration, total iron-binding capacity, percent transferrin saturation) was performed semi-annually, biopsies analysis obtained after had consumed test 13 months at necropsy. Midway study, diet reformulated 350 because death a male which that 7 months. Four died during first year compared with one cohort. The mean increase 6,371 micrograms/g, dry weight analysis. In contrast cohort decrease 621.5 micrograms/g. These results indicate can be affected by intake. increased mortality also suggests detrimental marmoset
