摘要: The causes and consequences of severe traumatic brain injury are reviewed, including mechanical neurochemical changes following focal diffuse injuries. A discussion terminology seeks to clarify current nomenclature descriptions behaviours during emergence from coma. Theories recovery reviewed diaschisis, plasticity compensation, redundancy, environmental regulation, excess disability. Several assessment tools that have been recommended for use with this population individuals in an altered state consciousness coma discussed critiqued. They include the Glasgow Coma Scale, Ranchos Los Amigos Levels Cognitive Functioning Assessment Western Neuro Sensory Stimulation Profile, Near Freeman Questionnaire, Modality Rehabilitation Technique.
