摘要: Small estuaries and embayments respond to atmospheric, oceanic, watershed inputs much faster than large regional estuaries. Simulation models of these ecosystems must approximate the timescales external versus internal response. Tidal creek ecosystem indicated that biogeochemical processing rates magnitude were greater with increased water residence time. In some open estuaries, absence benthic filter feeders permits proliferation phytoplankton if physical transport is not too fast. Model results suggest reestablishment estuarine oyster beds leads removal improved light transparency. Models small allow assessment linkages among inputs, abiotic drivers, under varying management scenarios.
