摘要: Three recent studies revealed synergy between immune-checkpoint inhibitors and the microbiome as a new approach in treatment of cancer. Incidentally, there has been significant progress understanding role polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) modulating cancer immune system, well regulating microbiome. Inflammation seems to be common denominator among these seemingly unrelated biological entities—immune microbiome, long-chain (LC-PUFAs). This commentary presents hypothesis proposing existence an optimal level LC-PUFAs that nurtures suitable gut microbiota preventing dysbiosis. helps system overcome immunosuppressive tumour microenvironment including enhancing efficacy checkpoint inhibitors. A model on how (such omega(n)-3 n-6 acids) forms synergistic triad with inflammation maintain homeostasis is presented. The principles underlying provide basis managing even other chronic diseases associated inflammation.
