摘要: A sensitive fluorometric method for assaying malarial pigment, haemozoin, has been developed and used to determine the haemozoin content of blood tissue samples. Plasmodium falciparum rings trophozoites were found contain 23 339 ng haemozoin/10 6 parasitized red cells (PRBCs), respectively. Unsynchronized berghei NK65 or ANKA parasites from infected mice contained 27 61 PRBCs, An exponential accumulation within 18 days after infection was demonstrated in liver spleen tissue, representing up 0.2% by wet weight day 18. Histology indicated that occurred predominantly monocytes. In brain, levels 8 considerably lower than they spleen, most pigment appeared be present inside cells. CBA/Ca with P. (a cerebral malaria model) had significantly higher amounts brain did ICR NK65. Thus, increase duration infection, its presence may associated pathology.
