摘要: Objective: We aimed to investigate the effect of smoking on osmotic pressure (OP) human dental pulp tissue. Materials and Methods: Sixty male patients (smokers nonsmokers) scheduled for root canal treatment prosthodontics were included in study. Fifteen (1 premolar tooth/patient) allocated each following groups according their habits, i.e. group 1: ≤10 cigarettes/day, 2: 11-20 3: >20 cigarettes/day 4: nonsmoking controls. Apical tissues removed via coronal access. Pulp tissue supernatants obtained measure pulpal OP by means a semimicro digital osmometer. One-way analysis variance post hoc Duncan test used analyze differences between groups. Regression was determine relationship number cigarettes smoked daily OP. Results: The mean (± SD) value decreased as cigarette consumption increased: 4 (268.00 ± 10.09 mosm/kg) > 1 (259.20 7.16 2 (248.90 2.23 3 (239.90 7.40 mosm/kg). differed significantly (p Conclusion: In this study, increased. clinical examination, there may be misdiagnosis conditions smokers (even healthy tissue) due altered reactions.
