摘要: The purpose of this dissertation is to provide a lexical analysis certain constructions that license unbounded dependencies in Korean. term “unbounded dependency” refers the long-distance relationship holding between gap and its coreferential element. We investigate four types dependency (UDCs): topic constructions, tough predicate double nominative relative clause constructions. Over last few decades, various syntactic approaches have been taken order explain formation these UDCs. In particular, grammarians GB theory claim UDCs involve movement processes language universally. However, as pointed out previous literature, movement-based accounts for Korean are problematic because island constraints bouding conditions frequently violated. As an alternative, some analyses propose UDC gaps not traces but null resumptive pronouns, pros semantic binding relations. dissertation, we argue need be handled at level syntax. support our argument by showing how unique properties. discuss their interpretations strong crossover coordination facts. addition, analyze overt pronouns reflexive caki sort audible when they occur position UDC. three different kinds Korean: traces, caki.
